Septic Systems

Septic system installation for rural valley properties

Ridgeline holds onsite wastewater treatment system (OWTS) installer licensing and installs septic systems to an engineered design, from excavation through tank set, leach field, connection and site restoration.

Much of the valley outside town limits, from Missouri Heights to the Crystal River and up the Fryingpan, relies on onsite wastewater systems. Installing one is excavation work first: a tank hole to the right depth, trenches or a field to the engineer's layout, careful bedding and backfill, and a connection to the house.

Because Ridgeline is already on site for excavation and landscape, we install the system as part of the same project, coordinate the county inspection, and restore the ground over it when it's done.

Homeowners building or replacing

New system installation on rural lots, and replacement of existing systems.

Builders

OWTS installation coordinated with foundation excavation, utility trenching and landscape on the same site.

Scope

What's included.

Installation

  • Tank excavation, trenching and leach or drain field excavation
  • Tank set and backfill
  • Leach field and drain field installation
  • Connection to the structure
  • Site restoration over the system

Coordination

  • County inspection scheduling; no backfill before sign-off
  • Installation to the stamped design
  • Coordination with the system designer on field conditions

How we scope it

Ridgeline installs; others design and permit:

  • System design and engineering are provided by a licensed designer. We install to the design.
  • Permitting and county submittal are handled by the owner, builder or designer. We confirm the permit is in hand before we schedule.
  • Percolation and soil testing are performed by a third party.
  • Repair and replacement of existing systems is taken on case by case.

Mountain conditions, accounted for.

Soils and setbacks

Field size and type depend on the soil test and the county's setbacks from wells, property lines and water. The design accounts for it; the installation has to match it.

Inspection

The county inspects before backfill. We schedule around it so the excavation isn't open longer than it needs to be.

Sequencing

On a new build, the septic goes in alongside foundation and utility work, before final grading and landscape.

Questions

Septic Systems (OWTS) FAQ.

Do you design septic systems?

No. Systems are designed by a licensed designer or engineer. Ridgeline installs to that design.

Do you pull the permit?

Permits are typically obtained by the owner, builder or system designer. We confirm the permit is in place before scheduling installation.

Can you repair an existing system?

Sometimes. Repair and replacement work is evaluated case by case. Tell us what's happening and we'll let you know whether it's something we take on.
