A patio is only as good as what is under it. In this climate, that means excavation to the right depth, compacted road base in lifts, proper bedding and edge restraint, and drainage that moves water off and away. Skip any of those and the surface heaves, settles or opens up within a few winters.
Ridgeline builds hardscape with the same crews and compaction equipment we use for sitework. We do the excavation, the base, the sleeving for irrigation and lighting, and the finished surface, so nothing gets lost between contractors.

How we scope it
We self-perform the excavation, base, pavers, steps, fire pits and water features. On the rest:
- Concrete flatwork is poured by a concrete subcontractor we coordinate. We build the base under it.
- Outdoor kitchens, decks and pergolas are coordinated with the appropriate trade.
- Gas supply to fire features is handled case by case with a licensed gas fitter.
Mountain conditions, accounted for.
Base depth
Freeze-thaw and heavy snow loads call for deeper, well-compacted base than milder climates. We build it in lifts and compact each one.
Snow management
Patios near the house take roof snow and shovel traffic all winter. Surface choice, edge detail and drainage account for it.
Sleeving
Once the patio is down, running a wire or pipe under it means cutting it. We sleeve every crossing before the surface goes in.

Pavers or concrete?
Both have a place. Pavers handle freeze-thaw movement well and can be lifted and reset if needed. Concrete is poured by a subcontractor on base we prepare. We'll recommend based on the site, the design and the budget.
Do you build natural stone patios?

Can you add a patio to an existing landscape?
Yes. Renovation work is common. We protect what stays, remove what goes and tie the new work into the existing grades and irrigation.
