About Ridgeline

A construction company that builds landscapes.

Ridgeline Land Works is a locally owned landscape construction and excavation contractor based in Carbondale, Colorado. We build complete exterior projects for homeowners, builders and commercial clients across the Roaring Fork Valley.

Who we are

Excavation and landscape, under one roof, on purpose.

Most companies in this valley do one or the other. Excavation contractors dig the site and leave. Landscape companies arrive after the builder's excavator is gone and inherit whatever grades they were left with. Ridgeline was set up to do both, because the projects that hold up best are the ones where the same people are accountable from the first cut of earth to the last tree.

Our work is roughly eighty percent landscape construction and irrigation and twenty percent excavation, most of it on new residential construction, with a share of renovation and commercial work. We run three field crews led by experienced crew leads, with our own equipment, out of Carbondale.

The two people who run the company both work the field: site walks, estimating, project management, crew coordination and client communication. When you call Ridgeline, you're talking to someone who has stood on your site and will be responsible for what gets built on it.

How we work

Standards we hold on every job.

Written scope, stated exclusions

Every estimate says what's in, what's out and what we're assuming another trade carries. Nothing is silently omitted.

Locates before digging

Every excavation starts with a Colorado 811 ticket called in a full four business days ahead. We don't dig on expired or obscured marks.

Base and drainage first

Compacted base under flatwork, drain rock and pipe behind walls, sleeves under every crossing. The invisible work is the work.

Plans read completely

We price every scope on the drawings that we can self-perform and raise questions in preconstruction, not in the field.

Inspections respected

Septic systems and other inspected work are not backfilled until the inspector has signed off.

Warranty stated

One year on installed trees, shrubs and perennials. Ninety days on plugs. Establishment watering is ours during that period unless the contract says otherwise.

Crews and equipment

Sized for construction-scale work.

Three field crews, each led by a crew lead, cover excavation, landscape and irrigation. Two crews run full excavation scopes; the third focuses on landscape and irrigation. We own our excavation and landscape equipment and rent specialty machines when a project calls for them.

For builders and architects

A subcontractor you can hand a plan set to.

We work regularly as a site and landscape subcontractor to general contractors and custom home builders, and we build from landscape architects' and civil engineers' drawings. Certificates of insurance are available on request. Tell us about the project and we'll get you a complete, clearly scoped number.
